Easy Shepherd's Pie -Total Cost $9.70

 


*This is my version of a Shepherd's Pie. 

Most ingredients used are Great Value Brand to be Budget Friendly.

I have included the cost for these items so you know exactly how much I spent on this meal,

if you are like me and are trying to budget your meals. 


This Meal is a Staple in our Home.

It has been Kid Approved due to it's Cheesiness. :)


Ingredients

1lb Ground Beef (73% Lean/ 27% Fat) $4.34

1 Packet Family Size Instant Mashed Potatoes (Idahoan Loaded Baked) $2.23

1 Packet Brown Gravy (Great Value Brand) $0.36

2 Packets Cheese Sauce (Velveeta Cheese Sauce 3ct Box $3.28) $2.19

1 Can Mixed Veggies (Great Value Brand) $0.58

5 Cups Water

2tsp Garlic Powder

2tsp Onion Powder

2tsp Pepper

9x13 Casserole Dish



TOTAL COST $9.70

(Based on spices already in stock at Home)



*PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT*


STEP 1)



Add Thawed Ground Beef, 

1tsp Garlic Powder, 

1tsp Onion Powder, 

and 1tsp Pepper to Pan.

Brown Ground Beef.

Drain Fat from Cooked Ground Beef.


STEP 2)



Add 4 Cups Water to Pot,

Bring to Boil, Once Boiled, Remove Pot from Heat.

Add in Instant Potatoe Mix,

Fluff Potatoes w/Fork.


STEP 3)



Add 1 Packet Brown Gravy to Pot,

Pour 1 Cup Cold Water Slowly onto Gravy Mix.

Mix w/ Whisk.

Bring Gravy to Boil,

Set to Low, Whisking every minute til Thickened.


STEP 4)





Drain 1 Can Mixed Veggies.

Add Veggies, Ground Beef, and Gravy to Casserole Dish.

Add 1tsp Garlic Powder, 

1 tsp Onion Powder, 

and 1 tsp Pepper to Ground Beef Mixture.

Mix until Well Combined.


STEP 5)



Gently Spread Cheese Sauce On Top of Ground Beef Mixture 

w/ a Fork or Spatula.


STEP 6)



Gently Spread Mashed Potatoes On Top of Cheese Sauce 

w/ a Fork or Spatula.


STEP 7)



Place Casserole Dish on Baking Pan.

Bake at 350 Degrees Fahrenheit,

for 30 Minutes Uncovered.
